President of the University of Mosul Meets Creative Student Team Behind “UoM AI” Smart System

On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, met with an outstanding student team behind the innovative artificial intelligence project “UoM AI”, marking a significant step forward in the university’s digital transformation journey.

The meeting was also attended by Prof. Dr. Duha Basheer Abdullah, Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, who praised the students’ pioneering achievement.

The team consisted of:

Mohammed Ibrahim Mohammed Al-Haleema – Department of Cybersecurity

Saleh Waleed Saleh Al-Nuaimi – Department of Computer Engineering

During the meeting, the students gave a presentation on the system’s design and functionality. They explained that “UoM AI” operates as a smart assistant that provides accurate and instant information to university students, staff, and applicants—particularly through the “Study in Iraq” program—by answering inquiries and offering verified institutional data.

“UoM AI” is the first intelligent system of its kind developed entirely by students within Iraqi universities, utilizing AI technologies and direct integration with the university’s databases. This innovation reflects the students’ capacity to create advanced technical solutions that enhance institutional efficiency.

Prof. Dr. Al-Ibrahimi commended the students’ creative efforts, expressing pride in their achievement and reaffirming the university’s commitment to supporting its talented students and transforming their innovative ideas into impactful realities that serve both the institution and the local community.

He also emphasized the importance of nurturing a supportive environment for tech development and expanding the system to serve all university departments and services, aligning with the university’s vision of comprehensive and sustainable digital transformation.
