His Excellency the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities Visits the University of Mosul

On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, Professor Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, received His Excellency the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Professor Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, in his official office to discuss ways of cooperation and coordination in preparing mechanisms and scientific studies for the preservation of the cultural heritage of the city of Mosul, which has been subjected to acts of vandalism, destruction and smuggling outside the country. They also discussed mechanisms for retrieving artifacts, considering them an important part of Iraq’s history and national identity.
The meeting further discussed designating a heritage house in the old city as a branch affiliated with the University of Mosul, to support studies and research related to urban and cultural heritage.
Following the meeting, His Excellency the Minister toured the university, including Ibn Al-Atheer Printing House and the Carpentry Workshop, and reviewed their capabilities and roles in supporting academic and service activities.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Minister presented a copy of his book titled “Strategy: The Philosophy of Man and the Culture of Society” to the University President, who in turn gifted him his book “Tales of Nineveh When Smoke Became a Homeland.”
The University President affirmed the university’s readiness, through its relevant academic specializations, to provide expertise and resources in support of the ministry’s efforts in this vital field, stemming from its academic and societal responsibility and pride in our city of Mosul and our great Iraq.
