University of Mosul and the Promotion of Sustainable Development Goals in Humanities Studies

In line with the University of Mosul’s approach toward achieving sustainable development goals across its various academic disciplines, including the humanities, the College of Basic Education has initiated the registration of master’s theses and doctoral dissertations in the Department of Arabic Language focusing on sustainable development themes in poetry and novels.
This step aligns with the university’s efforts to support the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, translating them into practical action by integrating environmental, social, and cultural issues into Arabic literature research, thereby fostering societal awareness of developmental challenges through literary creativity.
These studies will cover several key areas, including:
Environmental criticism and literary text analysis in light of sustainable development concepts.
Exploring the role of poetry and novels in shaping environmental and social awareness.
Among the registered research topics are:
The Image of Poverty in Naguib Mahfouz’s “Midaq Alley”: A Sociological Study.
Transformations in Gulf Novels under the Lens of Sustainable Development.
Environmental Awareness among Pioneer Iraqi Poets.
