University of Mosul hosts a delegation form the Human Rights Directorate

As part of ongoing efforts to coordinate joint initiatives aimed at promoting and protecting human rights in Nineveh Governorate, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, welcomed on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, a delegation from the Human Rights Directorate that included Mr. Ameer Ali Al-Saadi and Mr. Ahmed Khalil.

The University President warmly welcomed the delegation, expressing his appreciation for choosing the University of Mosul as a partner for cooperation. He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to supporting initiatives that foster peace and strengthen peaceful coexistence among its students and staff. He pointed out that the University is making concerted efforts to heal the rift left by the city’s terrorist occupation between 2014 and 2017, which deeply impacted relations among Mosul’s diverse communities. He stressed that the responsibility now falls on everyone to work together to rebuild these bonds through research and community programs that reflect the reality of the University as a microcosm of Iraq, encompassing all its components.

Both sides agreed that the University of Mosul will organize workshops and specialized training courses, through its colleges, departments, and scientific centers, to enhance the skills of the Human Rights Directorate’s staff and equip them with the expertise needed in this vital field.
