On Monday, August 18, 2025, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, received in his office a delegation from the General Iraqi Insurance Company to discuss prospects for cooperation and the development of a mutual understanding between the two sides.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Rafal Hamed Hassan, the Assistant of the President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Mr. Al-Arqam Mohammed Saeed, Director of the Administrative and Financial Affairs Department at the Presidency of the University.

During the discussions, emphasis was placed on the importance of insurance in safeguarding property and ensuring compensation in emergencies, particularly accidents and fires, as an effective tool for strengthening institutional stability.

Both parties also explored the preparation of a feasibility study to implement a health insurance system for the University of Mosul’s students—more than 60,000 undergraduates and around 5,000 postgraduates—aimed at improving healthcare services and providing a safer learning environment.

The President of the University also presented to the company’s delegation a newly developed program based on artificial intelligence technologies to support and streamline insurance accounting procedures, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and accelerating transaction processing.

This meeting reflects the University of Mosul’s commitment to strengthening its partnerships with national service institutions to ensure the safety of its facilities, protect its interests, and improve the services provided to its students and staff.
