Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, chaired on Thursday, August 28, 2025, a session of the University Council in the presence of its members, continuing the agenda of the 22nd open meeting.

During the session, His Excellency emphasized, based on his vision regarding the importance of updating specializations in the departments and academic branches across all university colleges at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, the necessity of establishing new departments and academic branches with modern and robust programs. These programs are intended to have both scientific and practical dimensions, contributing to community service, enhancing the developmental role of the university, elevating its academic standing, and aligning with labor market needs and program accreditation standards.

The Council also discussed the university’s needs plan for postgraduate studies within Iraq and abroad for the academic year 2026/2027, in addition to a number of other topics listed on its agenda.
