Visit of the Parliamentary Education Committee and Nineveh Deputy Governor to the University of Mosul

Affirming the University of Mosul’s active role in serving science and society, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University, received on Thursday, August 28, 2025, Professor Dr. Muzahim Al-Khayyat, Head of the Parliamentary Higher Education Committee, accompanied by Mr. Rifaat Samo, Administrative Deputy to the Governor of Nineveh.
The visit included a tour of the College of Engineering, where the guests were introduced to the innovative scientific achievements of the Computer Engineering Department, exemplified by the drone aircraft project. The visitors listened to explanations from the researchers regarding its future objectives and the scope of services it can provide to the community and institutions. During the visit, the head of the Parliamentary Committee emphasized the importance of universities serving as hubs for embracing creative and technological ideas, and harnessing the necessary capabilities to transform them into practical projects that support sustainable development.
The tour also included a visit to the Central Laboratory of the College of Science for stem cell production, where the University of Mosul has achieved a leading position among Iraqi universities. The laboratory also produces insulin cells and cardiac cells using specialized scientific equipment. The committee head praised the university’s pioneering role and stressed the importance of fostering fruitful collaboration with other Iraqi universities and the city’s hospitals to advance medical treatments for complex cases, making the laboratory an educational, research, and production hub that ensures continuity of work and utilization of robust scientific expertise.
