The President of the University Chairs the First Session of University Council for the Academic Year 2025-2026

 

On Monday Morning, 15 September, 2025, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, the President of the University, chaired the first session of University Council for the academic year 2025-2026, with the attendance of all the members.
The Council discussed a number of key topics, most notably adherence to the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in accordance with the University Code of Conduct, ensuring the enhancement of quality standards and excellence in university education.
The agenda also included:
⦁ Reviewing the university’s website as a primary communication platform with students and the academic community, and the need for continuous development of its content.
⦁ Providing accurate student statistics through the SIS system, allowing for regular tracking of registration data and academic performance evaluation.
⦁ Reviewing the statues of scientific departments and upgrading them or creating\ suspending some specializations, in line with scientific developments and the needs of the labor market and society.
⦁ Enhancing the use of Science College laboratories, through providing research developed environment for postgraduate student and faculty members, contributing to local and international scientific research.
⦁ Cancelling celebratory practices in graduate discussions, including flowers and sweets, in adherence to solid academic values.
⦁ The approval to change the name of the University’s Grand Theater to “Dr. Mahmoud Al-Jalili Hall” in recognition of his scientific and humanitarian journey and his significant role in serving the University of Mosul and the community.

The university president emphasized that these steps are part of the University of Mosul’s vision to enhance its scientific standing and ensure the quality of its educational and research outputs, ultimately serving the Iraqi community and elevating the level of university performance.
