Mosul University Discusses Its Development Projects and Academic Infrastructure Expansion with the Ministry of Planning

On Sunday, 12 October, 2025, the Deputy of the Prime Minister- Minister of Planning Dr. Mohammed Ali Tamim, received the President of Mosul University Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, along with a number of deans of colleges, to discuss prospects for cooperation and follow up on the university’s development projects.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister emphasized the pivotal role of Iraqi universities, particularly the University of Mosul, in supporting the comprehensive national development process. He noted that the Ministry of Planning paid special attention for the education sector within its policy and its strategic programs aim to enhance human and economical development in Iraq.
Dr. Tamim emphasized on enabling the universities and providing their basic requirements for advancing the educational sector, by developing infrastructure and university utilities, qualifying the human cadres, and providing the scientific and technical environment that keeps pace with global development.
During the meeting, several vital projects for the University of Mosul were discussed, including the construction of a new university complex spanning an area of 150,000 square meters, comprising buildings for two colleges, a health center, a commercial center, a modern building for dormitories, and integrated service facilities.
The University President and the accompanying delegation reviewed the status of the educational and research process at the University of Mosul and the development and expansion achieved in recent years. They expressed their high appreciation to the Ministry of Planning, represented by the Minister, for its continued support of academic institutions and its follow-up of university projects that contribute to strengthening the infrastructure of higher education and serving comprehensive national development.
