The University of Mosul Continues Talks with TetraTech for the Implementation of the Largest Solar Energy Project on Campus

As part of its commitment to enhancing the shift towards clean energy and achieving sustainable development goals, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, welcomed Mr. Thomas, a representative from TetraTech Consulting, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. He is the project manager for the solar energy project at the university, funded by the German Development Bank (KFW).

During the meeting, they discussed the details of the project and its economical and social impact. The President of the University emphasized the commitment of the university to implement the Eco-friendly projects that reduce the emissions, cut operational costs, create job opportunities, and develop the skills of local personnel.

This project aims to provide the university and the surrounding areas with the renewable energy and establish electric vehicle charging stations. This step enhances energy sustainability and addressing the challenges facing the electricity sector in Nineveh Governorate.

The meeting was attended by Professor Dr. Abdulrahim Ibrahim Jasim, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Rafal Hasan Hamed, Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Riyad Zaki Sabri from the College of Engineering, and several department directors.

After the meeting, the consulting team of the company had a field tour of several university facilities, they expressed their admiration for the urban, service, and environmental development taking place at the University of Mosul, as well as the university’s ongoing efforts to adhere to the principles of sustainable development.
