Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of Mosul University, and the supervision and attendance of Professor Dr. Ali Farouq Al-Maadidi, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Forestry, the College held a scientific seminar on November 17, 2025, titled “Awareness is Prevention – Towards a Sustainable Society Free of Drugs.” The event was organized in collaboration with the Directorate for Combating Drugs in Nineveh and the Department of Media and Government Communication at the University Presidency.

The seminar covered several key topics, including the types of drugs and methods of prevention, awareness of the legal consequences of possessing or using illicit substances, and a detailed explanation of addiction, its types, and its health and psychological impacts. It also highlighted the concept of drug control and strategies to combat it.

At the conclusion of the seminar, several recommendations were emphasized, most notably the need for a coordinated effort between educational, health, and security institutions, strengthening the role of families in monitoring and guiding their children, and intensifying awareness programs and activities both within and outside the university to reduce the spread of this scourge among young people.
