The College of Law at Mosul University, in collaboration with Imam Al-Kadhim College / Wasit Branch, organized the fifth scientific forum on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, aimed at addressing the drug epidemic, under the theme:
“The Role of Law and the Humanities in Combating Drug Abuse and Psychoactive Substances.” The event was attended by Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of Mosul University, Professor Dr. Abdulrahim Ibrahim Jasim, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, along with representatives from the Ministries of Interior, Labor and Social Affairs, and several Iraqi universities.

The forum opened with the Iraqi national anthem and the recitation of Surat Al-Fatiha in honor of the martyrs of Iraq, emphasizing the academic role of universities in addressing critical issues and tackling societal challenges, particularly the drug epidemic which threatens the safety of youth and the social system. Participants stressed the importance of legal, research, and awareness efforts as the first line of defense against this phenomenon.

In an effort to strengthen academic and community partnerships, the forum saw the signing of a cooperation agreement between the College of Law and Imam Al-Kadhim College, aimed at enhancing research collaboration and activating joint initiatives in law and the humanities.

The forum concluded with the opening of an awareness art exhibition, featuring paintings that depicted the dangers of addiction and its effects on individuals and society. The exhibition sent a strong message advocating for a drug-free environment and a more informed society capable of confronting the consequences of this serious issue.
