Mosul University Reaffirms Its Commitment to Rejecting Hate Speech and Promoting Societal Peace: The College of Arts Organizes a Scientific Workshop to Discuss Key Challenges

On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, the College of Arts at Mosul University organized a scientific workshop titled “Hate Speech and Its Impact on Societal Peace”, aiming to shed light on this growing challenge, which represents one of the major risks affecting the stability and cohesion of societies.
The workshop, organized by the History Department and presented by Professor Dr. Hashim Abdul Razzaq, discussed the forms and areas of hate speech proliferation, particularly through media and social media platforms. It also explored its impact on fueling tensions between community groups, reinforcing stereotypes, and spreading verbal and intellectual violence that could escalate into real-life violent practices.
In its recommendations, the workshop emphasized the need to raise public awareness of the dangers of this phenomenon, expand training programs and awareness campaigns, and encourage youth initiatives that promote a positive and constructive discourse, contributing to supporting civil peace and strengthening values of coexistence and social cohesion.
