As Part of the Iraqi Week for Combating Drugs, Mosul University Continues Its Awareness Campaigns to Limit the Spread of Drugs and Combat Addiction

On Thursday, November 20, 2025, the College of Dentistry at Mosul University, in collaboration with the Sustainable Development Unit in the Department of Studies and Planning, continued its awareness activities as part of the Iraqi Week for Combating Drugs. This was done through organizing the second lecture of the workshop dedicated to raising community awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and ways to reduce it.
The lecture, titled “Drugs: Harm to the Individual and Society,” provided a comprehensive explanation of common and less common types of drugs, their physiological effects on body organs, and their dangerous impact on the nervous system and human behavior. It also highlighted that many of the effects may be invisible, increasing their danger and spread among various age groups.
The lecture emphasized that community awareness is the first line of defense, and that the danger of drugs is not limited to a specific group but can affect all segments of society due to their easy spread and diverse sources.
The session concluded with a call to strengthen community and cultural cooperation and intensify joint efforts between educational institutions, families, and students, contributing to the creation of an informed environment capable of effectively addressing this issue through scientific and awareness-based methods
