Mosul University Launches the First Phase of the Fruitful Green Belt Project Around the City

The Voluntary Work Division at Mosul University, in collaboration with the Agricultural Division and the Muthabirun for Good Environment and Development Foundation, has launched the first phase of the Fruitful Green Belt Project, through which the university aims to create a sustainable plant cover around the city of Mosul.
The project consists of five integrated phases to be executed during the 2025-2026 academic year, with the first phase focusing on planting fig and pomegranate trees in the farms of the Al-Rashidiya area. Subsequent phases will include planting olive trees and other varieties of fruit-bearing trees. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to its social role in promoting environmental development and creating a greener, more productive future for the city.
This initiative embodies the spirit of voluntary work and shared environmental responsibility, emphasizing that Mosul University not only plays an academic role but also serves as an active force in community service and environmental development, contributing to the creation of a more sustainable and prosperous city.
