Environmental Research Center Concludes Training Course on the Role of Regulatory and Financial Systems in Combating Administrative and Financial Corruption

The Environmental Research Center at the University of Mosul concluded its training course titled “The Role of Regulatory and Financial Systems in Combating Administrative and Financial Corruption to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals” on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. The second day of the course included two lectures that focused on the legal and regulatory frameworks for protecting public funds and promoting the principles of integrity within government institutions.

The discussions covered the role of the judiciary and legal bodies in protecting public funds, emphasizing that administrative and financial work goes beyond routine procedures to become a precise legal responsibility. The course also highlighted the duties of public employees in enhancing transparency and combating corruption, especially in light of the rapid digital transformation.

The training also discussed the role of electronic systems like SIS and Moodle in supporting integrity, reducing manual interventions, and ensuring the smoothness of procedures. It was emphasized that the effectiveness of these systems depends on the employee’s commitment to accuracy and legality. The course concluded with a key recommendation stressing that combating corruption starts with the employee themselves. While technology supports oversight, integrity remains a daily choice made by the individual through their values and ethical and professional commitment.
