President of the University of Mosul Attends the Award Ceremony Honoring the Winners of the Higher Education Reading Award

The President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, attended on Thursday, 27 November 2025, the award ceremony honoring the winners of the “Higher Education Reading Prize” in its third edition. The ceremony was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Naeem Al-Abboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the participation of senior ministry officials, the President of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate, university presidents, and college deans. This participation comes in support of the Ministry’s approach to promoting reading as a sustainable knowledge-based culture among students and the academic community.
This presence reflects the University of Mosul’s commitment to embracing national initiatives aimed at advancing students’ intellectual development and enhancing their research skills, in line with the government’s vision for elevating the scientific landscape in Iraq. The ceremony witnessed the recognition of outstanding students from various universities, with the University of Mosul’s students earning distinguished acknowledgment for their remarkable achievements in the field of reading.
The awardees from the University of Mosul included Dalal Mahmood Mohammed from the College of Education for Humanities, Shahad Saad Jassim from the College of Basic Education, along with Dima Omar Mumtaz, Dhafar Fares Aziz, Fares Radeef Maiouf, and Firdous Abdul-Qader Elias from the College of Medicine, all of whom received merit awards for their excellence.
At the conclusion of the event, the President of the University of Mosul expressed his appreciation for this significant ministerial initiative, reaffirming the university’s ongoing support for its students and its encouragement for them to engage in intellectual programs and competitions that strengthen their analytical, critical, and research skills—contributing to the development of an informed generation capable of producing knowledge and achieving academic distinction.
