University of Mosul Hosts International Students in the “Study in Iraq” Program and Enhances Their Integration into an Inclusive Academic and Community Environment

In line with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s initiatives to support the cultural and social integration of international students, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, a Mosuli Heritage Evening was held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at one of the old houses on Farouk Street – Old Mosul, upon the invitation of the Nineveh Governorate. The event saw wide participation from Arab and international students enrolled at the university under the “Study in Iraq” program.
The evening was attended by 53 students from countries including Jordan, Syria, Yemen, Algeria, Egypt, Palestine, Libya, Bangladesh, and Sudan, in a warm, heritage-filled atmosphere that reflected the authenticity of Mosul and the hospitality of its people. The delegation was accompanied by Dr. Radwan Mohammed Abdullah, Head of the Department of Studies for Arab and International Students, representing the University of Mosul.
At the Baytna Cultural, Arts, and Heritage Foundation, the students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Saqr Al-Zakariya, who provided an explanation of the historic significance of the old Mosul house and its heritage.
The event included a guided tour through one of the old Mosul houses, allowing the students to experience the details of daily life in Mosul and the city’s heritage. This was followed by a heritage session for introductions and cultural exchange, which fostered closer ties among students and broadened their understanding of the local identity, promoting a spirit of camaraderie and openness.
This initiative is part of a series of activities organized by the University of Mosul to enhance the academic and humanitarian environment for international students, introducing them to the city’s rich history and heritage, promoting cultural coexistence, and supporting academic exchange programs.
The evening concluded with a positive atmosphere and commemorative photos, reflecting the students’ gratitude for the warm welcome and the university’s ongoing commitment to nurturing them as active members of the University of Mosul’s academic community.
