As Part of International Volunteer Day Activities, the College of Agriculture and Forestry Carries Out a Humanitarian Initiative to Support Thalassemia Patients

The College of Agriculture and Forestry at the University of Mosul organized a volunteer campaign at Al-Hadbaa Specialized Hospital to support thalassemia patients, under the slogan “Supporting Thalassemia Patients… Supporting Life and Creating Hope”. The initiative aligns with the university’s mission to serve the community and advance sustainable development goals.
The campaign witnessed wide participation from faculty members and students, and included the creation of an indoor botanical garden within the hospital featuring ornamental plants. It also involved distributing gifts to children in the hospital wards, establishing a small educational library, and organizing an awareness-raising competition aimed at providing psychological and educational support for the children.
The initiative further included presenting a collection of artistic paintings created by the college’s students, depicting the beauty of nature and its role in improving psychological well-being. These artworks were intended to reduce stress and anxiety among patients and enhance their sense of comfort and optimism.
The hospital administration expressed its appreciation for this humanitarian gesture, emphasizing the importance of continuing such initiatives that strengthen community partnership and promote a culture of volunteerism.
