The Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Unit, in collaboration with the Media Unit and the Education Unit at the College of Medicine, along with the Department of Studies and Planning – Sustainable Development Unit at the University of Mosul, organized an introductory workshop titled “Self-Assessment of Laboratories” on Thursday, December 11, 2025. The workshop was attended by a number of stakeholders involved in quality and scientific laboratory affairs. The event was part of the college’s efforts to enhance quality standards and improve the educational and research environment within laboratories.

The workshop included scientific lectures that introduced the College of Medicine’s Laboratory Manual at the University of Mosul, explained the Iraqi quality standards for laboratories in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as the process for creating baseline records for scientific laboratories. Additionally, the workshop covered laboratory safety requirements and proper waste disposal methods. The workshop focused on supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), by improving the working environment in laboratories and enhancing the competence of the staff working in them.
