College of Education for Pure Sciences Organizes an International Seminar to Exchange Knowledge on Viewing the World through Artificial Intelligence

 

The College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Mosul, in cooperation with the Department of Media and Government Communication at the University Presidency, organized an international knowledge-exchange seminar on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, entitled “Seeing the World through Artificial Intelligence: The Role of AI in Computer Vision.” The seminar was delivered by Professor Dr. Azlan Mohamed Zain, the Assistant of the Dean for Research, Innovation, and Development at the College of Computing, University Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

The seminar featured an in-depth review of the latest developments in artificial intelligence and computer vision, particularly those based on deep learning technologies, with a focus on practical applications that provide intelligent solutions in fields such as medicine and medical image analysis, smart cities and traffic management, as well as robotics, autonomous driving, and environmental perception. It also addressed the role of AI technologies in supporting digital transformation in the industrial and agricultural sectors, enhancing innovation in media and the arts, and advancing virtual and augmented reality, thereby opening broad horizons for researchers and students in modern computer science disciplines.

The seminar emphasized the importance of ethical and legal considerations, including privacy protection and bias mitigation in AI systems, alongside discussions of future technical challenges, particularly model efficiency, data quality, and decision interpretability. It also highlighted opportunities for international collaboration to develop safer and more reliable digital solutions. This seminar reflected the University of Mosul’s commitment to benefiting from global expertise in the field of computer vision and leveraging artificial intelligence technologies to advance its academic and research mission.
