University of Mosul Concludes the “Bridge of Mercy” Project and Joins the People of Batnaya in Christmas Celebrations

As part of its vision to strengthen community partnership and reinforce its humanitarian role, the University of Mosul, coinciding with the celebration of Christmas, concluded the activities of the comprehensive voluntary “Bridge of Mercy” Project through a distinguished celebration held in the village of Batnaya, reflecting the spirit of solidarity and social cohesion. The project activities aimed to provide specialized field services in the health, education, and environmental sectors, clearly demonstrating the University’s pioneering role in supporting community stability in Nineveh Governorate and contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.

The celebration witnessed wide official and academic attendance, led by Dr. Haider Al-Saadi, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Head of the Permanent National Committee for Community Awareness and Guidance; Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul; Assistant Professor Dr. Faris Mahdi Alwan, Director General of Private Education; and Dr. Mousa Al-Mousawi, Head of the Academic Affairs Committee of the Permanent National Committee for Community Awareness and Guidance at the Prime Minister’s Office. The event was also attended by Father Farid Kina, members of the University Council and its formations, as well as a distinguished group of community leaders and residents of Batnaya, in a scene reflecting the unity of the social fabric under the umbrella of the University.

The conclusion of the project coincided with the festive atmosphere of Christmas, as the activities included celebratory segments filled with joy and happiness. The visit concluded with a tour of Mar Qeryaqos Church, reaffirming the values of peaceful coexistence and mutual affection that unite the people of Nineveh. Through this initiative, the University of Mosul closed a remarkable chapter of continuous field-based humanitarian work and further strengthened its presence as an active university in the service of society.
