University of Mosul Council Holds Its Seventh Session for the Academic Year 2025-2026

Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, chaired the seventh session of the University Council for the academic year 2025–2026 on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, with the attendance of all Council members.
The session included several agenda items and key themes, most notably:
1. Academic promotions, with emphasis on the necessity of adhering to ministerial regulations and guidelines governing their granting, in a manner consistent with sound academic objectives and enhancing the quality of scientific performance.
2. The establishment of postgraduate programs in a number of colleges, highlighting the importance of meeting the aspirations of the University and its students in vital specializations, in line with its goals of achieving sustainable development and keeping pace with global scientific progress.
3. The establishment of new consultancy offices, aimed at covering newly emerging scientific specializations with the required expertise and employing them in the service of governmental and community institutions.
4. Visiting professors from other countries, including discussion of organizing the relevant mechanisms and regulations and providing the necessary services, in accordance with the University’s vision for hosting them and ensuring the success of their academic duties.
5. The reinstatement of students whose enrollment had been canceled, and a review of the main instructions and regulations related to this matter.
6. Reviewing the most important scientific specializations required within the scholarship programs of the Higher Committee for the Development of Education in Iraq.
7. Discussing the external examiner, and the main issues related to organizing mechanisms for dealing with this role.
8. Reviewing the regulations for establishing scientific journals in both scientific and humanities disciplines.
The Council also discussed a number of other topics listed on its agenda related to the progress of the educational, research, and administrative processes, contributing to the achievement of the University’s goals and its mission of building an integrated academic environment.
