University of Mosul Hosts the Sustainable Security Forum to Enhance Cybersecurity through Artificial Intelligence

 

Under the patronage of the Prime Minister’s Office and the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the College of Science at the University of Mosul organized the “Sustainable Security” Forum on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, in cooperation with the Security Media Cell, the Ministry of Interior, and the Popular Mobilization Commission. The forum was held as part of the University’s efforts to strengthen partnerships between academic and sovereign institutions in addressing rapidly evolving digital challenges.

The forum witnessed notable official and academic attendance, including Dr. Haider Al-Saadi, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Head of the Permanent National Committee for Community Awareness and Guidance; Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul; Assistant Professor Dr. Faris Mahdi Alwan, Director General of Private Education; and Dr. Mousa Al-Mousawi, Head of the Academic Affairs Committee of the Permanent National Committee for Community Awareness and Guidance at the Prime Minister’s Office, alongside a distinguished group of security leaders and academics.

The forum aimed to highlight the application of computer technologies and artificial intelligence in the fields of cybersecurity and security applications, with the objective of consolidating the concept of sustainable security. This was achieved through discussions on mechanisms for employing intelligent technologies in the early detection and mitigation of digital threats, as well as the development of supportive software tools to enhance information sovereignty and protect national infrastructure from cyber intrusions, thereby serving the requirements of Iraqi national security.
