On Wednesday, December 31, 2025, the Regional Studies Center at the University of Mosul, in collaboration with the Department of Studies and Planning at the university’s presidency, organized a scientific seminar titled “The Reality of Sustainable Development in Iraq: Opportunities and Challenges”. The seminar addressed the concept of sustainable development, its goals, and its applications in both the economic and social realities. The seminar was attended by Dr. Basel Khalaf Hamoud, Head of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate in Nineveh, along with a group of faculty members, researchers, and development experts.

The seminar discussed the importance of adopting sustainable development goals in public policies, academic programs, and practical applications. It also highlighted the role of universities and research centers in supporting development paths and raising societal awareness in this field.
