The UK Met Office Renews Its Confidence in the “College of Education for Humanities” Station and Awards It the Gold Star for the Second Consecutive Year

In a distinguished achievement that reinforces the international presence of the University of Mosul, and under the patronage of the University President, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Dr. Saad Ramadan Mohammed Al-Jubouri, the Meteorological Observation Station at the Department of Geography has been awarded the Gold Star by the United Kingdom Meteorological Office (Met Office) for the second consecutive year.

This international accreditation crowns the efforts of the station’s academic and technical staff. In this regard, Dean Professor Dr. Saad Ramadan Al-Jubouri praised the achievement, noting that it reflects the rigor of scientific planning and institutional work. He emphasized that the station has demonstrated high efficiency through an advanced real-time digital sensor system that accurately monitors climatic variables such as temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, and solar radiation, with precision comparable to that of leading global stations.

The role of the station goes beyond observation; it also employs advanced software to analyze data and extract precise, vital indicators that serve scientific research. This has contributed to the inclusion of the University of Mosul in the global climate archive accredited by the Met Office, granting a high level of international credibility to research outputs and postgraduate theses that rely on the station’s data.
