With Joint International Supervision from the University of Nottingham: The College of Pharmacy at the University of Mosul Discusses a Master’s Thesis with Global Perspectives

In a step that reflects the depth of the University of Mosul’s scientific openness to reputable international universities, the College of Pharmacy at the University of Mosul witnessed, on Monday, January 12, 2026, the defense of the master’s thesis submitted by the student Zainab Abdullah Khalil Al-Allaf, which featured joint international supervision from the United Kingdom.

The thesis, entitled “The Antibacterial Effects of Beneficial Microorganisms against Pathogenic Bacteria Causing Urinary Tract Infections in an Animal Model,” addressed a vital topic related to preventive medicine and alternatives to antibiotics.

The examination committee consisted of a distinguished group of academics, marked by the participation and supervision of a researcher from the University of Nottingham, in addition to faculty members from the Colleges of Pharmacy and Medicine, as follows:

* Assistant Professor Dr. Tariq Mahmoud Qasim (Al-Qabas Private College) – Chairman

* Assistant Professor Dr. Karam Amer Abdulaziz (College of Pharmacy – University of Mosul) – Member

* Lecturer Dr. Khalid Walid Turki (College of Medicine – University of Mosul) – Member

* Assistant Professor Dr. Zahraa Amer Hashim (College of Pharmacy – University of Mosul) – Member and First Supervisor

* Lecturer Dr. Vildan Cileksoy (University of Nottingham – United Kingdom) – Member and Second Supervisor

The committee commended the scientific value of the thesis, which successfully integrated local and international expertise. Following an in-depth scientific discussion and the student’s defense of her research, the committee decided to approve the thesis.
