Data Center Unit

General Overview

The Data Center Unit at the Electronic Computing Center is responsible for managing and operating the university’s digital infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, networks, virtual machines, and backup systems. The unit aims to ensure the continuity, efficiency, and security of technical services provided to the colleges and departments of the University of Mosul, while maintaining system availability and operational stability.

Core Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the operation and maintenance of servers and data storage devices.

  • Monitor server performance and carry out routine maintenance.

  • Manage updates for server operating systems and central storage platforms.

  • Provide technical support for university-wide electronic systems and services.

  • Provision virtual servers for university colleges and departments, and support projects for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

  • Ensure data security and execute regular backup procedures.

  • Continuously improve and optimize IT infrastructure performance.

  • Coordinate with other units to support technological projects and digital transformation initiatives across the university.
