University of Mosul hosts an international workshop on the vanishing heritage after the war.

Under the patronage and attendance of the President of University of Mosul Prof. Dr. Qusay Kamaldeen Al-Ahmedi, Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations (University of Mosul), in collaboration with the University of Nottingham Trent (in Leeds-the United Kingdom), and the University of Wasit (Wasit, Iraq), held the international workshop and exhibition for the research project titled “Preservation of Vanishing Cultural Heritage in Mosul Post-War” are organized. The event was held on Sunday, October 22, 2023, in the Scientific and Literary Forum Hall. It was attended by the President of University of Wasit Prof. Dr. Mazen Hassan Jasim Al-Hasani with the university’s accompanying delegation, professor Dr. Mounir Salem Taha, Vice President of the University for Scientific Affairs, professor Dr. Ahmed Hamid Al-Suwaidi, Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, and Assistant Professor Dr. Rawa Boutros, Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations.
The exhibition included the organization of three training courses on documenting the tangible and intangible heritage of Mosul, an architectural documentation competition for heritage buildings, honoring the winners, and awarding certificates of appreciation to students and professors who participated and contributed to the training courses.
It is noteworthy that this research project documented, recorded and analyzed the physical environment and events dating back to the pre-war period, as it documented the memories and stories of residents about various features of the heritage of old Mosul, through interviews, organizing workshops, documenting and analyzing the urban environment of the old city, In a step that leads to the production of interactive digital documentation in Old Mosul and the development of the capabilities of young generations of both genders in the city.
