German Corner Unit
Activities of the German Corner Unit:
Since its establishment on 23/01/2022, the German Corner Unit / Department of Scholarship and Cultural Relations and the Office of the Vice President of Scientific Affairs of the University arranged several scientific activities with esteemed German universities and facilitated the signature of several MoUs with German universities, Furthermore, the German Corner arranged activities related to the international cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), including organizing scientific conferences, seminars, workshops, and courses, as shown below:
First: Scientific Conferences
1- Holding the Seventh International Students Conference in cooperation with Dortmund University and Graz University 12-16/2/2023 at the University of Mosul.
2- Holding the international conference on sustainability in cooperation with Dortmund University 5-10/3/2022 at the University of Mosul.
Second: Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and Scientific Cooperation:
1- Memorandum of understanding between the University of Mosul and Oldenburg University.
2- Memorandum of understanding between the University of Mosul and Heidelberg University (in process).
3- Memorandum of understanding between the University of Mosul and Graz University (in the process).
4- Academic scientific cooperation between the University of Mosul and the Brandenburg University of Technology.
5- Scientific cooperation with Flensburg University.
6- Scientific cooperation with the Center for Contemporary Art in Leipzig.
7- Scientific cooperation with Giessen University.
8- Scientific cooperation with the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.

Third: Scientific programs
1- Implementing the RESI (Rethink Science and Education in Iraq) project within the scientific collaboration between University of Mosul (Iraq), TU Dortmund (Germany) and Graz University (Austria).
2- “The Educational Needs of people with disabilities, and Teacher Training” Program (SEN-T3) at Flensburg University.
3- Joining the (Taziz) program through the international partnership with DAAD.
4- Summer training program at the University of Oldenburg 6-13/7/2023.
Fourth: Workshops
1- An international workshop in Egypt, in cooperation with the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, the DAAD organization, and some Egyptian, Moroccan, Jordanian, and German universities, which was supported by the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD, and was titled:
(School sports in Iraq: knowledge exchange between German-Arab experts to develop the professional capabilities of teachers).
2- A joint workshop titled “Your Entrepreneurial Potential” between Mosul University, Dortmund University, and Graz University on 26/10/2022.
3- Participation of academicians from Mosul University in a training workshop that was held at Vechta University.
4- Regular workshops as a result of following up with the participants in the activities conducted with the German universities to share their experience and knowledge with their colleagues.
Fifth: Training courses
1- Holding the RESI intensive Seminar within the cooperation between Mosul and Dortmund universities 07-2022.
2- Holding a course about the basics of the German language to the staff of Mosul University for the period from 13/3/2023 to 15/5/2023.
Sixth: Winning projects
1- Winning a three-year (Ta‘ziz) project in cooperation with Brandenburg University and the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
2- Winning a three-year (Ta‘ziz) project in cooperation with Dortmund University and the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
3- Winning the second line of the Ta‘ziz project (scientific cooperation program) in cooperation with Dortmund University and with the support of the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD for one year.
Current and future activities:
1- The international competition to redesign the Najafi Street, in cooperation with Dortmund University, Graz University, the Mosul Heritage Foundation, The Book Raseef, and the Najafi Street Remodeling Team.
2- Preparing to apply for the upcoming Ta‘ziz (Short Measures) project through coordination with other German universities.
3- Participation in the Jordanian-German Week 6-13/11/2023, in cooperation with Brandenburg University.
4- Cultural heritage digitization project with the Brandenburg University.
5- Participation in the international workshop organized by the University of Dortmund for the period from 11-27 to 12-1-2023, in the presence of 36 faculty members and researchers from the University of Mosul.
6- Opening channels of communication with the Universities of Gothenburg and Heidelberg in the field of archaeology and human studies.
