Based on the details of the meeting of the Council of the College of Dentistry at the University of Mosul (Ninth Session for the year 2026), the decisions and topics discussed can be linked to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that the University seeks to implement:
1. Goal 4: Quality Education
This is the most direct and prominent goal reflected in the Council’s activities, achieved through:
Promotion of academic staff to the rank of Professor, which contributes to enhancing the quality of higher education by ensuring the presence of highly qualified academic staff with advanced research expertise.
Discussion of master’s theses, which supports the development of research skills and the graduation of specialists who contribute to the scientific and medical advancement of society.
Scientific Equivalency Committee, which ensures equal educational opportunities and maintains academic standards for transferred or incoming students.
2. Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being
As the College is a medical institution, all administrative and academic decisions ultimately aim to:
Develop scientific research (through the addition of researchers and modification of authorship order), which often focuses on addressing oral and dental health problems, thereby improving public health.
Graduate highly qualified dentists capable of providing safe and effective healthcare services.
3. Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
By supporting the career development of academic staff through promotions, the College contributes to creating a motivating work environment that fosters innovation and productivity.
4. Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions
Governance and Administration: Holding regular meetings, discussing official correspondence, and making decisions based on specialized committees (such as the Scientific Equivalency Committee) reinforces the principles of transparency, accountability, and the establishment of a strong and well-organized educational institution.
