Educational Dental Clinics
Educational Dental Clinics form one of the foundational pillars of the infrastructure of the College of Dentistry at the University of Mosul. Established in 1986, they were designed as an integrated center that combines academic, clinical, and research functions, thereby serving as a vital hub for both the College and the University at large.
These clinics represent a comprehensive model where clinical education, community service, and scientific research intersect. They are not merely treatment facilities, but advanced academic and research platforms that prepare new generations of dentists capable of serving their communities with competence while contributing to the advancement of dental healthcare in Iraq.
Academic Role
The clinics provide a fully integrated clinical learning environment, enabling both undergraduate and postgraduate students to gain hands-on experience in treating patients under the direct supervision of a distinguished faculty team. In this way, the clinics serve as a practical platform that fosters the development of medical professionals who combine theoretical knowledge with clinical proficiency.
Structure and Design
The building occupies an area of 2,000 square meters—approximately one-third of the total space of the College of Dentistry. It consists of two floors designed for functionality, ensuring ease of movement and organization between clinics, service units, and administrative offices. This layout reflects the University’s vision of creating a modern educational environment characterized by efficiency and effectiveness.
Clinical and Community Service Role
Beyond their educational mission, the clinics play an essential role in serving the local community by offering comprehensive dental care across various specialties. These services are provided at subsidized rates under the supervision of highly qualified academic staff, embodying the University’s mission of advancing healthcare access and supporting societal well-being.
Research and Development Dimensions
The clinics also function as a center for dental research activities, where faculty members and students collaborate in conducting applied studies aimed at keeping pace with global scientific advancements. Equipment and curricula are regularly updated in line with the latest international medical standards, ensuring continuous improvement and innovation.
