The Environmental Research Center holds a discussion session on determining the optimal locations for solar farms.

On Monday, October 14, 2024, the Environmental Research Center held a seminar entitled (Selecting Optimal Sites for Solar Farms using GIS & MCDM) delivered by Dr. Zakaria Nafeh Mahmoud Shehab (a lecturer at our center) in which he explained how to determine the optimal locations for solar farms using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) which includes the use of advanced tools and techniques to determine the best locations for solar energy projects.
By integrating GIS and MCDM, planners can create a comprehensive analysis that takes into account the physical characteristics of potential sites and the various criteria that affect the feasibility and effectiveness of a solar farm. This approach ensures that the selected sites are not only suitable in terms of solar energy potential but also economically feasible and environmentally sustainable.
The discussion session was attended by the center’s lecturers and staff, which included questions and answers about the topic of the session.
