Director Speech

In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful
“Have you not seen how God gives an example: a good word is like a good tree whose root is firm and whose branches are in the sky, yielding its fruit at all times by the permission of its Lord.”
The term environment expresses the surroundings with all the biotic and biotic parts it contains (such as humans, animals, plants, and microbes) and abiotic factors (such as water, air, soil, and others). Human living in this environment results in environmental problems that are the result of our industrial and scientific civilization and its by-products and side risks, which have a near and long-term impact on humans and life in general.
Environmental pollution is one of the serious problems that various countries of the world suffer from. The environment is no longer able to replenish its natural resources, and the balance between its various elements has been disturbed. The atmosphere of cities has become polluted with smoke rising from automobile exhaust and gases rising from the chimneys of factories and power stations. The agricultural soil has been polluted as a result. Intensive use of agricultural fertilizers and pesticides, and the water of rivers and lakes in many places has become in a deplorable state as a result of the industrial waste and human waste thrown into it. The atmosphere has also become polluted, and polluted materials circulate in it from one place to another, and pollution may be transmitted from one country to another. He has nothing to do with it, and thus the issue of the environment and the necessity of preserving it from pollution has become a “vital” matter in our present time, such that it has become the subject of interest for scientists, thinkers, associations and organizations, and environmental pollution is no longer a local problem, but rather a global problem that knows no international borders to stop at.
The University of Mosul, as one of the academic institutions in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, opened the horizons for research, treatment, and providing consultations through the establishment of the Environmental Research Center on 6/11/1997, which took it upon itself to provide consultations and conduct environmental studies and specialized research in all areas of the environment since its establishment until now. . In addition to its effective contribution by holding scientific demonstrations in the form of seminars, scientific conferences and workshops aimed at raising environmental awareness on the one hand and highlighting the environmental problems in the governorate in particular and throughout the country in general, the center also undertook the mission of sustainable development at the university level by assigning the director of the center with the responsibility of managing University Committee for Sustainable Development.
The center aspires to be an environmental scientific radiation station by establishing an environmental information bank that includes research published at the University of Mosul in various environmental specializations, and then contributing to developing plans for environmental scientific research in aspects that the city lacks, in addition to actively contributing to contemporary problems such as desertification and climate change.
And from God, success.
