A panel discussion at the Environmental Research Center on the biomanufacturing of nanomaterials.

On Monday, December 9, 2024, the Environmental Research Center held a panel discussion entitled “Biomanufacturing of Nanomaterials” delivered by Dr. Mai Abdel Hafez Abdel Qader (a lecturer at our center), in which she defined nanotechnology as a qualitative leap that has dominated many different areas of life and is concerned with studying materials at the atomic level and the possibility of manufacturing them in different ways to be used in different technological applications. Biomanufacturing using living organisms has been considered one of the best manufacturing methods as they are fast, economical and environmentally friendly methods.

The aim of the panel discussion is to define the biomanufacturing of nanoparticles as being of great importance as an effective and environmentally friendly method with economic benefits that have overcome chemical and physical manufacturing methods for use in various technological applications and to be of good specifications by using some types of living organisms such as bacteria and fungi or by using some plant extracts.
