The Environmental Research Center Organizes a Seminar on Genetically Modified Foods

The Environmental Research Center at the University of Mosul organized a seminar titled “Genetically Modified Foods and Their Health and Environmental Impacts” on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

The lecture was delivered by Dr. Mai Abdulhafiz.

It addressed the nature of genetically modified foods, the world’s opinions on their acceptance or rejection, why some foods are modified in these biological ways, and some of the benefits and harms of their use.

It aimed to address the food shortages that most countries suffer from, using genetic engineering techniques to achieve food security, regardless of the potential risks of this technology to human and animal health and the environment.
