Sustainable Food Security Course Lectures Continue for the Second Day

The Sustainable Food Security Course continued on its second day, Monday, April 28, 2025. The first lecture, delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Sahar Adnan Sheet, was titled “Food Security from a Sustainability Perspective.” She highlighted the most prominent challenges facing achieving food security for current and future generations, while also highlighting the need to preserve environmental and economic resources. The lecture addressed vital issues, including population growth, climate change, water scarcity, agricultural land degradation, the complexities of supply chains, as well as economic crises and conflicts and their impact on food security.
This was followed by a second lecture by Assistant Professor Amna Faris Farhan, titled “Biodiversity and Food Security.” She focused on the importance of the interrelationship between biodiversity and sustainable food security, especially in light of the accelerating challenges facing the world, such as climate change, ecosystem degradation, and population growth. She emphasized that biodiversity is a crucial factor in ensuring the continuity of life on planet Earth.
