The Environmental Research Center Holds a Training Course on Sustainable Development and Anti-Corruption

Under the supervision and follow-up of Assistant Professor Dr. Saba Khair El-Din Ibrahim, Director of the Center, the Environmental Research Center – Human Rights Unit held a two-day training course entitled “Towards Corruption-Free Sustainable Development: Policies and Strategies” on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in cooperation with the Human Rights Division and the Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency.
The first day included three specialized scientific lectures. The first lecture was presented by Assistant Professor Taha Ahmed Al-Tayyar, entitled “Sustainable Environmental Management: A Path to a Green Future.” The lecture addressed the concept of sustainable environmental management, its basic principles, areas of application, the challenges it faces, the role of institutions and stakeholders, the prevention of administrative and financial corruption that could harm environmental management, and methods of combating it to achieve exemplary environmental sustainability.
Lecturer Dr. Raghad Hashim Al-Mallah then delivered a lecture entitled:
“The Relationship between Administrative and Financial Corruption,” in which she reviewed the close interconnectedness between administrative and financial corruption, and how these two types of corruption synergize to form a system that hinders economic and social development.
Assistant Lecturer Saif Salim Dawood concluded the first day with a lecture entitled “Sustainable Development Policies and Their Impact on Combating Corruption,”
focusing on the role of sustainable policies in meeting the needs of current generations without compromising the rights of future generations. She also highlighted their importance in consolidating the rule of law, empowering civil society institutions, and enhancing the efficiency of administration and oversight.
This course comes within the context of the Center’s scientific and awareness-raising efforts to combat corruption, in line with achieving the eighth and sixteenth goals of the Sustainable Development Goals.
