Environmental Researches Center

Development Unit at the University’s Department of Studies and Planning on Thursday, December 18, 2025. The visit aimed to strengthen institutional cooperation and monitor the implementation of plans related to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The delegation was headed by Assistant Lecturer Raad Ahmed Ayoub, Head of the Sustainable Development Unit at the University. The visit aimed to review the research and scientific work at the Center and monitor progress in implementing annual plans that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The delegation was received by Assistant Professor Taha Ahmed Al-Tayyar, Head of the Information Systems Department, in the presence of a representative from the Center’s Sustainable Development Liaison Office.

During the meeting, the department head emphasized that the Environmental Research Center operates according to planned research and scientific programs that directly contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He explained that the center’s research activities focus on developing modern environmental methods and supporting innovation to address environmental and economic challenges. This aligns with SDG 2 (Zero Hunger and Food Security), SDG 6 (Access and Sanitation for All), and SDG 12 (Ensure Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns).

He also noted that the center’s research contributes to mitigating the effects of climate change and protecting the environment, in accordance with SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land). Furthermore, it strengthens institutional and scientific partnerships to achieve SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

This visit comes within the framework of enhancing integration and coordination between the Environmental Research Center and the University of Mosul, and ensuring that research activities are aligned with the university’s strategic vision, thereby strengthening its role in serving the community and achieving sustainable development.
