The Environmental Research Center team at the University of Mosul continues its community service efforts.

As part of the “Bridge of Mercy” project, the Environmental Research Center team at the University of Mosul continued its efforts to serve the local community by conducting a field campaign on Monday, December 23, 2025. This campaign involved distributing water filters to several schools to provide safe drinking water and improve the quality of water used.
The campaign also included distributing awareness posters to students at Batnaya Boys’ High School. These posters addressed a range of educational topics, most notably the causes of high salinity in well water, soil and rock salinity, pollution and water seepage, and the effects of saline water on public health, particularly for those with high blood pressure and kidney disease, including digestive problems and the unpleasant taste of the water.
These services are part of the scientific and research efforts undertaken by the Environmental Research Center, which aim to assess water quality in areas near Mosul by measuring the concentration of total dissolved solids (TDS) in various water sources. These activities are also consistent with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 15 (Life on Land), and Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
