A researcher from the Environmental Research Center at the University of Mosul participates in establishing the Council of Environmental Experts at Warith Academy

The Environmental Research Center has achieved a new scientific milestone with the participation of Dr. Riyadh Mahmoud Saleh, a faculty member and researcher at the center, in establishing the Council of Experts on Environment, Agriculture, and Water at Warith Academy, affiliated with the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein in Karbala Governorate، Saturday, December 26, 2025.

The council, which includes a select group of experts and representatives from specialized research centers in relevant ministries, government institutions, and universities, ensures comprehensive national scientific representation. It works to monitor, study, and evaluate the environmental and climatic situation in Iraq, analyze its impact on water and food security, and propose solutions, policies, and programs to achieve environmental, water, and food security within a sustainable national strategic vision extending to 2050.

He pointed out that the National Council of Experts on Environment, Water, and Agriculture represents a practical strategic step in the path of enhancing environmental, water, and food security, and places knowledge in its rightful place as the foundation for sound decision-making and protecting Iraq’s future.

The council aims to prepare scientific studies and provide practical solutions to problems that affect national security in its various forms, especially food, water and environmental security, in order to support official bodies and decision-makers in managing these vital issues, and to enhance development paths and advance life in its various fields.
