The Environmental Research Center at the University of Mosul is holding a workshop on mechanisms for marketing scientific output.

The Environmental Research Center at the University of Mosul held a scientific workshop entitled “Mechanisms for Marketing Scientific Outputs,” in cooperation with the Department of Science and Technology Parks / Scientific Outputs Marketing Division, and the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency, on Monday, January 5, 2026.
Her lecture was presented by Dr. Rayan Salem Mahmoud, Head of the Scientific Output Marketing Unit at the University of Mosul Presidency,
The workshop addressed the concept of marketable scientific outputs, which include various research, technical and consulting outputs resulting from the scientific, field and laboratory activities of research centers, due to their practical value and environmental, health or economic impact, as well as their suitability for contracting or providing as paid services.
The workshop addressed areas of environmental and applied research and studies, particularly those related to air, water, and soil pollution, climate change, desertification, and waste management. It also discussed the beneficiaries of these findings, such as the Ministry of Environment, local governments, international organizations, and industrial companies. Furthermore, the workshop reviewed Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies, environmental and technical consultations, and laboratory tests and analyses covering water quality, soil pollution, air quality, and chemical and biological pollutants.
The workshop’s themes included waste management studies, the circular economy, climate studies and adaptation to climate change, health and environmental studies, as well as training programs and environmental capacity building, environmental management systems (ISO), community services, implementation of awareness campaigns and educational programs, and environmental protection initiatives.
The workshop clarified the criteria for approving scientific output as a marketable product, which are represented by the availability of an environmental, health or developmental impact, the feasibility of field application, the existence of a clear beneficiary party, the possibility of pricing and contracting, with compliance with applicable laws and instructions, and the preservation of the university’s intellectual property rights.
These efforts are in line with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The workshop concluded with the presentation of a certificate of participation to Dr. Ryan Salem Mahmoud, in appreciation of his scientific efforts and his role in the success of the workshop.
