Environmental Researches Center

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Qusay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Dr. Saba Khair Al-Din Al-Taei, Director of the Environmental Research Center, the Center held a panel discussion entitled “The Effect of Oil Pollution on Soil” on Thursday, November 3, 2022, delivered by Ms. Reem Nawzat Ahmed in the center’s lecture hall. The lecture dealt with the topic of oil spills and showed that it is a common phenomenon in all parts of the world, which is sometimes called oil lakes, where the oil lakes have narrow areas, but its impact on the environment is great, oil moves into the soil reaching groundwater as well, especially during the process of extracting oil As a result of its leakage from wells, it causes harm to the environment and the economy, and thus to humans.
