Participation of the Environmental Research Center in National Tree Planting Day

🌳 Greening Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow 🌱
On the occasion of the National Tree Planting Day, March 12, 2026, the Environmental Research Center is proud to organize a green afforestation campaign across the corridors and grounds of the university campus. This initiative stems from our collective environmental responsibility toward our land and the generations yet to come. 💚
A tree is far more than a plant rooted in soil — it is a breathing lung, a sanctuary for biodiversity, and a shield against the escalating threats of climate change. Trees purify the air we breathe, moderate local temperatures, protect soil from erosion, and restore the ecological balance that our natural environment so urgently requires.
Today, we do not merely plant trees — we cultivate awareness and foster a deeply rooted environmental culture within our academic community, advancing steadily toward a greener and more sustainable university.

This campaign is carried out with the explicit objectives of expanding green spaces, improving air quality, and mitigating environmental pollution. The Center is equally committed to raising public awareness of the critical role trees play in maintaining ecological equilibrium and combating desertification.
Furthermore, the Center provides evidence-based scientific guidance on the most suitable tree species for the local environment, along with best practices for their cultivation and long-term care, ensuring their healthy growth and ecological sustainability. These efforts are firmly aligned with the Center’s overarching mission to protect the environment and promote environmental literacy across all segments of society.

Alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
🟢 SDG 13 — Climate Action: Afforestation contributes directly to carbon sequestration, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating the adverse effects of global warming.
🟢 SDG 15 — Life on Land: Protecting terrestrial ecosystems, safeguarding biological diversity, and restoring degraded vegetation cover and natural habitats.
🟢 SDG 11 — Sustainable Cities and Communities: Enhancing urban green infrastructure and fostering a healthy, aesthetically enriching campus environment conducive to well-being.
🟢 SDG 4 — Quality Education: Promoting environmental awareness and embedding a culture of sustainability within the academic and broader community.
🟢 SDG 6 — Clean Water and Sanitation: Trees play a vital role in regulating the water cycle, enhancing groundwater recharge, and reducing surface water runoff and soil contamination.
