About the Center.
The Center of Environmental and Pollution Control Research is an academic institution specialised in studying the environment through research, teaching and consulting plans that will provide protection for the environment. The Center also seeks to advance scientific research in its field of specialization and provide researchers, policy makers and decision-makers with environmental information and scientific advice to achieve the highest possible degree of sustainable development. And then contribute to the development of national wealth. In order to reach these goals, all elements of the environment represented by soil, water and air are subject to monitoring and evaluation by the center’s researchers, which has enriched its library with a large amount of research that deals with the study of pollution, its types and sources, as well as the study of biodiversity in this field. A number of aquatic plants have been observed in the Tigris River within the city of Mosul, which was previously a feature of life in the marshes of Iraq, which clearly indicates climate change. The Center is also keen to communicate with scientific institutions related to its specialty by holding scientific conferences and seminars or participating in them at both levels. Local and international. It also works to activate the university’s role in the field of community and state service by organizing continuing education courses, evaluating the environmental impacts of development projects, and designing projects for water and sewage networks, treatment plants, and other environmental facilities. Due to the importance of environmental research at the academic and social levels, the presidency of the University of Mosul has had an impact. He devoted great efforts to nurturing the seed of scientific research until these efforts resulted in a specialized center that was established on 6/11/1997 and was called the Center for Environmental Research and Pollution Control.
