The British Council announces to all applicants wishing to take the IELTS (IELTS for UKVI) and (IELTS) tests in Iraq that the paper-based tests will be discontinued as follows:

• The last session for the paper-based IELTS for UKVI test will be held on 14 February 2026.
•From this date, the paper-based UKVI test will no longer be available for booking or administration at any of the  test centers in Iraq.
Additionally, the paper-based IELTS test will also be discontinued in the near future, with a specific deadline to be announced later.
This decision is part of the transition plan to computer-based testing. The standard testing format for test-takers will be IELTS on computer, which will be available at test centers in Iraq.
The International English Language Testing Center at the University of Mosul would like to clarify that it is currently using the computer-based testing system (IELTS on Computer) exclusively, in line with the British Council’s official policy.
