True to the vision of the University of Mosul, headed by Prof. Dr. Kossay Al-Ahmady, to upgrade the scientific and cognitive levels of the University members, Mr. Sayf Al-Ashqar, Secretary-General of the University Libraries, and the library staff wish to convey their congratulations to one of the Library members Mis. Ghada Abdulkarim Abdulaziz for getting her Ph.D. from the College of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Mosul on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. The defending of Ms. Ghada’s doctoral thesis, which is entitled (Extracting Grammatical Relations from the web Using Soft Computing), was before a discussion commission consisting of seven specialized professors in attendance with Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Muhammad Jum’aa, Assistant Dean of the College. The discussion lasted almost five hours via a virtual platform called Google Meet. The thesis deals with the increase of web use for scientific or entertaining purposes, which leads to the need of increasing the accuracy and speed of information retrieval by search engines. The thesis aims to design a system called Web Relation Extraction (WRE) to retrieve files written in English language in the field of music based on the user’s query using soft computing. The system is based on extracting trilateral and bilateral relations from the English text based on natural language processing, and it addresses the problem of weak inquiries.
