Central Library

Within the framework of the University of Mosul’s approach to communicate with all local and international media, Kurdistan 24 TV visited the Central Library and met with Mr. Sayf Al-Ashqar, Secretary-General of the University Libraries, on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, in order to prepare a detailed report on the cultural and scientific role of the Library in the University and society. During the visit, Mr. Sayf gave an overview about the Library and its services to users since its establishment in 1967, as one of the notable academic libraries in the Middle East. He also addressed its destruction, burning, and looting caused by ISIS, mentioning that its devastation did not discouraged its staff, those in charge of its administration, the University Presidency and local and international personalities and organizations to start an unprecedented campaign of rebuilding it once it was liberated and despite the hard circumstances to return it to its previous state and better, making it keep pace with the latest developments in the libraries of global universities.
