The Central Library Finishes the Second Virtual Training Course on Translation Approaches
Under the auspices of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Kossay Kamaluddin Al-Ahmady, and under the supervision of Mr. Sayf Mohamed Dhiya Al-Ashqar, Secretary General of the University Libraries, and in order to raise the scientific and cultural level of the University of Mosul’s members, the Continuing Education Division at the Central Library organized the Second Virtual Training Course entitled (Translation Approaches: Dynamic Equivalence And Formal Equivalence) on Google Meet Platform at 7 pm from 22-24 February 2021. The course, which was delivered by Asst. Lect. Mafaz Khalil and Mr. Jalal Hikmat, dealt with the Dynamic Equivalence Theory of Translation, coined by the translator and linguist, Eugene Nida, in comparison with the Formal Equivalence of Translation and the importance of both approaches in influencing the receptor. The attendees were offered with numerous examples to support the explanations. On the third day, a number of written questions was given to the attendees to test their comprehension for the lectures presented to them in the course. It is worth mentioning that the training course was organized by Asst. Lect. Zina Tareq and managed electronically by Dr. Ghada Abdulkarim. At the end of the course, attendees were granted participation and passing certificates.
