Participation in the electronic training course on “Cataloguing smart information sources in the digital age in accordance with the practices of the Unified Arab Catalog”.

Employees of the Automated Catalog Unit, Central Library,Mr. Ibraheem Abdul Ghani and Mr. Ibraheem Abdul Balawi participated in the electronic course organized by the Unified Arab Catalog as part of the activities of the Sustainable Development Program for the year 2026, entitled (Cataloguing smart information sources in the digital age in accordance with according to the practices of the Unified Arab Catalog and under the logo: “With thinking skills, we make artificial intelligence at our service” for the period from 1/26-27/2026, and through the Unified Arab Catalog Academy platform, the course was delivered by Professor Noha Hassan, the course covered: Applying modern cataloguing rules (RDA) and the Mark 21 standard within the framework of unified Arab catalog practices, allowing indexers to develop their skills in dealing with sources generated or supported by artificial intelligence, and interactive and dynamic sources
Course’s goal:
-Introducing trainees to the concept of smart information sources and enabling them to apply RDA rules and Mark 21 in cataloguing smart sources.
Enabling trainers to use the practices of the Unified Arab catalog in controlling smart data. –
-Promoting trainers’ awareness of the role of quality in cataloguing processes to achieve accurate and effective retrieval.
-Developing critical and applied thinking skills through practical activities and models and confidently dealing with the technical and cognitive challenges associated with cataloguing modern sources.
It grants participants practical opportunities through interactive activities and tests that simulate the challenges of daily life, the professional environment, and the cognitive environment. So, the course will attain the fourth goal: good education, and the seventeenth goal: establishing partnerships to achieve the goals, from the Sustainable Development Goals
